David Martinez: Abreojos - Open Your Eyes
In my life as in my photography, I’ve learned to value simplicity. It’s all about each detail being considered – with care + with intention. I draw from that simplicity not only when I choose a surfboard or curate the objects in my home, but when I approach lighting + composition in a photograph as well. From a pared-down approach comes purpose. When I use lights, it’s never done excessively – I light with a gentle touch. When I use natural light, I do so with the intention of respecting the integrity of the light itself. I hope this collection inspires you to 'Abreojos' - open your eyes and take it all in.
Instituto Familiar de la Raza (IFR)
The mission of Instituto Familiar de la Raza (IFR) is to promote and enhance the health and well-being of the ChicanoLatino/Indígena community of San Francisco.
Serving over 6,000 clients each year, IFR provides health & wellness programs & services targeting the San Francisco Latino community. We are committed to addressing the most difficult issues impacting our community, whether that is HIV, violence, trauma, or other behavioral & mental health issues. Our programs recognize the full spectrum of wellness, spanning a continuum of mental health, HIV-related & social services, including health promotion & prevention, family support, early intervention, case management, violence prevention, comprehensive behavioral health services, and cultural activities and practices.
Sizing, Printing and Pricing
The total cost of the print includes a donation that the buyer makes to the charity directly at the time of purchase. The buyer receives the tax benefits and the immediate satisfaction of knowing that through their purchase they made a difference. Once the donation is made, the buyer then purchases the print from Giving Photography for the remainder of the amount.
We ask that you donate 25% of the listed price to Instituto Familiar de la Raza.
